Los Gatos Swim and Racquet Club is dedicated to get you in shape, and to help you stay in shape.

Our certified instructors teach a variety of group exercise classes from cycle ("spinning"), body sculpting, workouts in the water or aqua-aerobics classes, to kickboxing and yoga.

Fitness & Group Exercise

We offer a variety of ways to increase your fitness, help reduce your stress, and better your health at Los Gatos Swim and Racquet Club. Please consult the Group Exercise Class detailed descriptions below, for a workout that best meets your needs. We offer a number of programs from women's weight training to Junior Cardio Conditioning, and Junior Weight Training classes:

Personal Training

Los Gatos Swim and Racquet club has a team of qualified trainers, specialized in all aspects of training to help get to the next level and achieve your fitness objectives.

Through private and semi-private sessions, our trainers can help  you those 10 pounds, run that 10 K in less than 45 minutes, or add that definition and strength to your body you have been planning.

Fitness Group Exercise Descriptions

Ab Blast (15)
A great rewarding abdominal work.

Advanced Power Sculpt
This class is similar to the Power Sculpt class, but it includes more intensity and more repetitions. This is an ADVANCED and challenging class. 60 minutes of pure POWER!!
 
Cardio Sculpt (60)
A combination of cardiovascular and strength training workout, a  in class format using the Step, Body Bar, tubing, and had weights. 

 Circuit Training
This class meets in the Fitness center. The instructor designs a total body workout using different equipment combined with cardiovascular exercises. Emphasis is on Strength Training. A 75-minute class.

Cross Training (60)
A HIGH ENERGY class that combines cardio respiratory training with functional fitness conditioning to offer a complete total body workout. Cycling will be a core cardio element and will be mixed with other forms of cardio training. The functional fitness elements will include strength, core, balance and power training. Bring your fitness goals and we will provide a safe and innovative workout to help you reach your goals.

 Duathlon Heartrate
Training- This class is designed to show you how to use your heartrate monitor and shows the benefits of training in specific zones including strength, fat-burning, and anaerobic, to give you a more efficient and targeted workout. You will be doing 30 of the treadmill and 30 minutes of the body cycle.

Kickboxing
This class is designed to improve strength and cardio training. It incorporates cardio drills while using punches and kicks to improve your balance and coordination, giving your body a dynamic workout

Group Cycling (45 or 60)
A powerful cardiovascular workout that simulates a realistic cycling workout on the road. This class will significantly  increase your lower body strength while at the same time burn calories and increase the strength of your heart and lungs.

Kids' Fit Play (45)
Outdoors class on the blacktop (weather permitting) includes basic motor skills, hand eye coordination, games, and rhythmic movements in a fun environment.

Pilates Mat (45-60)
A unified exercise technique composed of several controlled, precise movements aimed at stretching and strengthening the “core” muscles, back, buttocks and abdomen. Pilates can help improve your posture. All exercises performed on an exercise mat. 60-75 minute class.

Power Sculpt (60)
A powerful class with emphasis on increasing your strength. A combination of Body bars, hand weights, and resistance tubing will be used to sculpt your body.

Running (90)
Learn running techniques while strengthening upper and lower body. Meet at Los Gatos High School track first three Mondays of the month. Last Monday, meet in front of the training pool for water running. ALL levels welcome.

Step Interval (75)
A vigorous high intensity / low impact workout using the Step. This class incorporates sets of combinations on the steps, mixed with intervals of muscle conditioning using the body bar, hand weights, and resistance tubing.  

Step/Sculpt
A great lower body workout using the Step. This class gives you a good cardio workout and combines weight training also. Class is 60 minutes in length.

Walkfit
A walking class for all levels of fitness - The class takes you on trails near and around the club. There are two instructors at hand to accommodate all levels of walkers. This class meets at LGCRC the first Tuesday of every month for a coffee hike up to the Lexington dam.

Aqua Exercise Classes


Master's Swim
A coached workout designed to improve a swimmer's sprint speed as well as endurance capabilities. All four major strokes are utilized and refined. You can wok at your own pace. Class is up to 90 minutes.

Aqua Combo (60)
Shallow and deep water cardio movements. Upper body sculpting with buoys. This is a total body workout.

Yoga Exercise Classes

Restorative Yoga (Level 1 - 2)
This class is a practice for those seeking rest and relaxation through nourishing postures, simple meditation and guided imagery. The style is most often prescribed by physicians as it is deeply healing and regenerative. Various props, music and readings are used to assist in renewing body, mind and spirit.
 
Gentle Yoga (Level 1 -2)
This class is a more relaxing stretch and conditioning class, designed to move the body slowly and soothe stiff muscles and joints. Great for all levels of practice.
 
Hatha Yoga (Mixed Levels)
This is an eclectic movement class which combines asana practice (postures) with deep breath work (pranayama) and concentration. This combination builds & refines strength, flexibility, balance and focus.

Meditation (Mixed Levels)
Guided imagery to allow the mind and body to relax. This is 30 minutes.
 
Power, Flow, or Vinyasa Yoga (Mixed Levels)
Sometimes called aerobic or ashtanga yoga. It is an energetic series of poses and sun salutations linked to one another through strong breath work and deep concentration. This practice is quite athletic and builds stamina and endurance. Be prepared to sweat! This is typically 75 minutes.
 
"26 Poses" Yoga (Mixed Levels)
This is comprised of a specialized series of 26 yoga poses which are done in the same manner and sequence in each class. Each pose is repeated twice in a heated yoga room. Over time, students develop a strong practice, learning to gradually work deeper and with more concentration and poise.
